At the start of March our newest recruit, UX Designer Gabrielle, was invited to speak to Experience Haus and share her journey since graduating.
Experience Haus is a design and innovation training provider with an innovative, immersive and collaborative approach to learning. Since 2020 they have offered their courses remotely, opening their arms to students outside of London.
The community is a big part of what Experience Haus offers and arguably a key value proposition for them; a community I am now a proud alumnus of. They continually work to build their alumni community and encourage us to mentor, share experiences, and help one another grow within the industry, so I was delighted to be asked to take part.
Let's take it back a few months, pre-alumnus status, and pre-Screenmedia. Last year I decided to invest in myself and signed up to Experience Haus’ eight-week UX/UI Design course. I chose them as I was attracted by their offering of live workshops (not pre-recorded like some of their competitors), a chance to work on a live client brief, and an innovative class of no more than twelve students.
As part of my course, I worked on a brief for a supply teacher platform based in London. I was in a team of three, in which we carried out an in-depth UX and UI design audit and redesign and presented our final prototypes to the CEO and key stakeholders. This was pivotal to building my portfolio alongside gaining real life experience, which I built upon with freelance projects after the course.
Screenmedia welcomed my experience from my previous jobs in the creative and music industry and my new and growing knowledge in UX, and I joined their team in February 2021.
The event itself was a lovely blend of Experience Haus offering insight into what they've been working on behind the scenes and a chance for an open discussion on what we as alumni would love to see in and from our community. The final part of the event was a spotlight on four alumni, myself included.
The Experience Haus course empowered me, and I believe it’s important to nurture those relationships, so I was thrilled to speak at the event and share my journey to now. Plus, the event was a chance to showcase Screenmedia to a room of budding global talent!
