Screenmedia welcomes new faces to the team

Andrew | 27/09/2017

We sat down with new faces Daniil and Jamie to ask them about themselves and why they chose to join us at Screenmedia.

Read parts one, two, and three in our series of interviews with new team members.

Jamie - Junior Developer

In 140 characters, what exactly do you do?

I develop bespoke solutions in Java and C#.

Previous experience...

Loss adjusting and anti-fraud work in insurance; undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD study in computer science where my research focus was on software quality. My favourite project was building on-the-fly analysis models for real-time data streams.

Why Screenmedia?

There's always something new to work on. Screenmedia works hard to 'fit the job to the person', and the people here have a supportive 'why not?' approach.

Oddest job…

Summer data entry - reentering faxed data that was clearly screenshots from some other system. I really hope they're not still doing that...

On the nightstand…

A 'false dawn' lamp, a wooden trinket box I made at school, a programming book, and a novel.

In my spare time I like…

Reading, running, writing, doing, games design, and board games. I'm usually found doing these things when I should be finishing off my thesis.

Favourite tune on the office Sonos…

The Killers - The Man.

Daniil - Graduate Mobile Developer

In 140 characters, what exactly do you do?

I develop mobile apps using Xamarin.

Previous experience...

During my university years I was involved with two startups and worked on many side projects. I also had an internship in software development.

Why Screenmedia?

The company is amazing and the people that you get to work with are fun and friendly. What I do at Screenmedia challenges me every day and allows me to learn new skills and improve as a developer.

Oddest job…

Fixing a PS3 console that was peed on by a dog.

In my spare time I like…

What is spare time?

Favourite tune on the office Sonos…

Weirdest fact about me…

“Facts are like cows. If you look them in the face long enough, they generally run away.” ― Dorothy L. Sayers
