Say hello to our new recruits!

Lauren | 10/10/2017

Our multidisciplinary team has continued to grow, and this week we sat down with Michael and Alex to find out what they do and about their time at Screenmedia.

Check out parts one, two, three, and four in our series of new start interviews.

Alexandre - Graduate Producer

In 140 characters, what exactly do you do?

I work with project teams and do best practice research to support client projects and deliveries.

Previous experience...

While studying Motion Media Design I worked as a project manager on collaboration projects between my university and private sector companies such as BMW.

Why Screenmedia?

After a year of living in Glasgow I fell in love with the city so was looking to stay and work here. I found Screenmedia and was fascinated by their work; I saw it as a great opportunity to learn, grow, and expand my skillset. Everyone here is very friendly!

Oddest job…

Designing a mascot for an insurance company.

On the nightstand…

iPad and whatever book I'm reading at the moment.

In my spare time I like…

More often than not you'll find me at home watching movies, playing video games, or reading a book, but on weekends I like going out and taking my camera on a hike.

Favourite tune on the office Sonos…

I tend to put on head phones and listen to stuff like Ludovico Einaudi, it helps me focus.

Weirdest fact about me…

I have a thing called synesthesia.

Michael - Junior Front-end Developer

In 140 characters, what exactly do you do?

I build the front-end UI for our web solutions and bring our design team’s visions to life

Previous experience...

I worked in a similar role at another agency for 2 years. Prior to that, I spent a year as an intern at Glasgow Web and Parachute.

Why Screenmedia?

Having been in the industry for 3 years, Screenmedia has a great reputation in Glasgow and beyond for being a trend setter and always pushing the boundaries of what is possible with tech. That's something I wanted to be part of. I want to be the best developer I can be and I know I'll get the chance to develop my skills here.

Oddest job…

Testing the reflectivity of road signs.

On the nightstand…

iPhone, PS4 controller.

In my spare time I like…

To play football. I manage a team called Manhattan Blacks with two other guys - sadly we're from Cumbernauld and not New York. I play 3 or 4 times a week and watch as much as I play. I spend time with my family and friends as much as possible, and just bought a flat with my girlfriend, so looking forward to staring a new adventure with that.

Favourite tune on the office Sonos…

Jimmy Hendrix.
