Less than four months in and it’s already shaping up to be another year of growth at Screenmedia, with six fresh new recruits joining us since January. In the first part of this two part blog series, we sat down with Matt, Dale and Andrew for a quick chat.
I develop and maintain high performance, back-end solutions for the websites we design at Screenmedia.
I previously worked at HM Revenue & Customs as a software developer, primarily developing in Visual Basic. I helped design and maintain the main contact management system which is still being used at HMRC today.
Screenmedia provided me with the perfect opportunity to challenge myself and learn new technologies, the people here immediately made me feel at home.

I combine research and requirements to produce a content and layout structure for websites which users will intuitively understand.
I graduated from Abertay University in 2013 with a BSc in Web Design & Development and started as a junior developer in a web agency based in Dundee. I quickly discovered my skills and passion were more design inclined and I changed roles within the same agency to become the team’s UX Designer/CRO Consultant. Over the next couple of years I developed my knowledge and understanding of User Experience and Conversion Rate Optimisation, applying the skills I learned to the range of projects I worked on, which were predominantly bespoke responsive websites. The team I was in was small so I often had the opportunity to work in all areas of the full project scope. A few examples include launching websites, conducting QA testing, and providing client training.
It was time for me to get out of my comfort zone and seek a new challenge both personally and professionally. Screenmedia ticked all the boxes for the type of company I was looking to join. A place I could enhance my skillset working with large forward-thinking clients within a quality-driven team full of friendly experts.

I plan and manage marketing projects to build Screenmedia’s presence and assist in developing our own expertise and knowledge.
I studied international marketing, French, and German at the University of Strathclyde, then went on to help launch and work for two startup businesses, a bubble tea retailer called Tempo Tea Bar and a technology company called Swipii. Both were big challenges in very different ways but really rewarding (and winning a couple of awards was always fun too!).
I wanted to work somewhere which had a great vision and ethos. I had a few friends who already worked at Screenmedia and they vouched that it was a great place to work and grow, so it was a no-brainer to apply. It’s a great team and you quickly feel at home, everyone here excels at what they do too, so you are always in great company.
