This social networking website was developed for Tern Television
and Channel 4 and is home to the People's Republic of Slabovia, an
emerging superpower run by the General and his son. This quirky
community site aims to recruit and brainwash new citizens from
legions of young people disaffected with the West.
It does this through:
Working from Tern's concept of a nation with low-tech media
infrastructure (newspaper and state controlled broadcast) the
solution not only looks the part, it's also a very high-tech
solution with the richest possible GUI. Behind the engaging design
is a content management system enabling the production team to
update and grow the site content, manage user accounts and analyse
traffic.
It also represents our first major foray into the use of Social
Networking tools and techniques to build and sustain a community of
participants. At last count, it had over 5,000 users and in 2008
was noiminated for a Bafta (Scotland) for Best Interactive
Media.
