Our challenge here was to redesign the new Council web portal - meeting the Council's accessibility and navigation (SSL) design requirements as well as creating a design that would meet corporate and business communications objectives.
There is nothing formulaic about portal design, a major challenge in satisfying a wide audience with diverse needs for information and functionality. In design we have successfully supported the council brand and service propositions. In development we have adhered to the strictest accessibility guidelines and delivered flexible, robust and technically excellent CMS templates.
We hope our solution exceeds the Councils' brief and meets our own personal objective - to deliver a design that surpasses the offerings of those Councils in NLCs peer group. We think we got there and we'll soon find out - the new site is due for implementation in summer 2009.
