NHS Health Scotland have been working with the public health
charity ASH (Action on Smoking and Health) to train health
professionals in delivering smoking cessation advice.
Screenmedia were commissioned to create an online learning
resource which would detail this training procedure in a manner
that was interactive and engaging for learners.
Our solution was to take elements of design from the
organisations corporate branding and incorporate this with a
mixture of bespoke and stock photography to support the subject
matter and theme.
We worked alongside ASH's subject matter expert to segment
content into modular learning units making the resource more
user-friendly. We also created interactive activities (such as a
flowchart questionnaire exercise) to encourage user participation
and reinforce learning.
A key requirement of the resource was that it had to be
accessible as well as modern and engaging. We went through
extensive user testing to ensure that it was accessible to those
with disabilities, such as sight impairments, and we also created
an accessible PDF document for those with low bandwidth
connection.
The learning module is hosted on Health Scotland's LMS(Moodle)
and using our expertise in this area we were able to ensure that
the resource is interoperable with other Health Organisations'
Learning Management Systems.
