The initial concept for this project was originated by Lori McElroy and Kate Hendry at SUST - the idea being to engage school children in learning about sustainable building design.
Working alongside John Gilbert Architects, Screenmedia devised a series of games and animations that would make learning engaging and fun. Initially there were two games (environment and building) plus character animations throughout to promote understanding and assist learning for younger age groups.
The games have been tremendously well received with the games subsequently winning a Bafta (Scotland) for Best Interactive Media in 2006.
In 2008 the resource has been extended to older age groups through My Sust Town which tackles sustainable town planning. Within the new game, look out for the two excellent video debates (energy and retail) designed for whiteboard class participation. Should cause a few fights in the playground.
