A sophisticated mobile-first eCommerce solution for global contact lens supplier Daysoft.

Responsive eCommerce

Daysoft are a Scottish-based global supplier of disposable contact lenses who sell millions of pairs of contact lenses online every year.

When Daysoft approached Screenmedia, the company had been making steps towards digital transformation but had been hampered by technical issues. Their current website had fallen far behind contemporary design and technology standards, despite their strong desire to rebuild a brand new online shopping experience for their customers.

In commissioning Screenmedia, Daysoft set out a brief to bring their website and customer care ordering system up to modern best practice standards, and challenged us to create a robust, innovative, and intuitive mobile-first online shopping experience for their customers. With Daysoft being an international retailer, the solution also had to offer real extensibility and scalability; it was vital that the solution provided Daysoft with the ability to create multi-lingual websites and online shops for territories throughout the world; and all from one centralised Umbraco solution.

Our solution began with a full technical audit of Daysoft’s current site to assess website performance, security, usability, and standard of code. With a full understanding of the technical challenges, the team moved onto developing the UX and GUI, focusing in particular on the user journey of purchasing lenses on any device. The resulting look and feel is clean, extensible, and true to the Daysoft brand.

In development, we worked through a phase of development sprints in order to create the new website, customer care ordering system and online shopping experience on one centralised Umbraco 7 solution, integrated with Worldpay and Paypal for payment processing.

Since its launch, reactions to the new site from Daysoft customers have been overwhelmingly positive. The resulting new site is feature rich, contemporary in design, more intuitive for users and fully mobile and tablet responsive. Daysoft are now in the process of rolling out the new site to their international subsites, and we anticipate their digital success to only grow with their new mobile-first approach.
