Overview
Our brief, from the learning team at BBC, was to produce a
series of animations plus an accompanying microsite to teach some
pretty nifty memory techniques. The animations had to be
informative and useful, but at the same time attractive, quirky and
engaging.
Our approach was to develop a simple, clean, hand-drawn scene
and character style. Working with BBC, we developed various scripts
& storyboards; we produced the character and scene assets for
'George' in his everyday trials & tribulations; finally, we
produced the animations (using Adobe Flash) to bring to life, the
stories of George, overcoming his struggles through the useful of
the different memory techniques.
The animations are supported with voiceover (Radio Scotland's DJ
Vic Galloway) and sound effects (courtesy of Savalas); both, really add to the
animation style and the character's personality.
Alongside the animation series, our team designed and developed
the Brainsmart microsite - in which we
carry through the hand-drawn style of the animations to the site
interface design, style, look and feel.
It's been a great project to work on! Our thanks go out to the
excellent team at BBC Scotland (Louise, Anne and Bruce).
