We are delighted to announce that Work Skills Academy has been
nominated in the web category for this year's Bafta Scotland
awards. We're on tenterhooks awaiting the results which will be
announced at the Bafta ceremony on Sunday 8th November... (18 days
and counting!)
The project is a follow up of the highly popular Football
Academy games in 2008. Work Skills Academy was also shortlisted
for the eLearning Awards 2009.
Fingers crossed...

Alongside the development of the new Titan
Clydebank website, we have also produced this new corporate
site for Clydebank Re-built. A very different remit with
very different results.
Clydebank Rebuilt's purpose is simple; to help regenerate
Clydebank. Their work, as facilitators and developers, is fresh,
innovative and successful. So, for the website solution we went for
a bit of innovation too - implementing a content management system
that enables full (and easy) site update to all published content -
including the Google map and galleries for each project. We are
also integrating more web 2.0 features such as Ajax and DHTML to
improve the user interaction experience, as well as elements of
community & social media to develop better dialogue users.
This is after all what Clydebank
Re-built is about.

It's been a wee while since we posted on our blog; we've been so
busy with exciting new projects we've hardly had a moment to
collect our thoughts. Never fear though, we have saved up a wealth
of studio news and launches that we're just itching to fill you in
on, not to mention the said exciting new projects. So stay tuned
for updates on recent projects with European Care, Clydebank
Re-Built, NHS Education for Scotland and SNBTS.

A wee snap of B-Man hosting the TPYF
Content Management System training course last week.
The flash based CMS for the 'Their Past
Your Future' online exhibition for Museums Galleries Scotland has been designed
and built by Screenmedia to allow project teams around the country
to add their exhibitions and media assets in house. Last week,
Vickie and Brian introduced the individual museum project teams to
the CMS system, giving them the opportunity to get to grips with
the navigation and required fields before beginning work on the
real task; populating the site with content.
Doesn't he look right at home?

Following on from our work with NHS Pharmacy, Screenmedia is
pleased to be now working with NHS Dentistry to create smoking
cessation training materials to teach frontline pharmacy staff.
Having created the earlier smoking cessation modules, the Dentistry
job is really a simple case of filling the resource with new
content. Filling! Geddit!

Over the last few months our clients have been taking part in a
customer survey and after anxiously awaiting our report card we are
pleased to confirm that the feedback was excellent. We are
extremely pleased that clients find us approachable and easy to
work with, but also perceived our work to be of high quality and
value for money. We reckon that's a pretty good report card. Thank
you to all the clients who took time out to answer a few questions
about us; it really is important to hear your feedback. Above is a
little Wordle
highlighting some of the nice things our clients said about us
(awwwww you guys!!).

This month Screenmedia turned 5 years old! We would like to take
this opportunity to thank our clients and partners for their support and for
their contribution to the journey so far. In just 5 years we've
been lucky enough to work with some of the biggest names in media, education, health and culture and we couldn't be happier with our
clients and the work we've produced. So, Happy Birthday to us and a
massive thanks to you from the Screenmedia team. Here's to the next
5!

Last week Vickie and I attended the ICT Literacies Conference in Stirling, which
was hosted by our clients at Learning Connections; the community
learning and development agency within the Scottish Government. The
conference, designed to address the key developments in ICT centred
learning, was an excellent opportunity to hear a little more about
the ways in which the local authority teams are utilising online
platforms for adult literacy learning. As part of the conference,
the team at Learning Connections held an interactive workshop to
introduce the Work Skills Academy learning game; our most recent
project with The Big
Plus. This gave us an excellent chance to gauge thoughts and
feedback from literacy practitioners, not only on Work Skills
Academy but also on our previous project Football
Academy, with both resources receiving extremely positive
feedback. It was also great to meet people who use the resource
regularly and to hear affirmation of the impact the materials have
on engaging people in literacy and numeracy learning (oh and the
delicious lunch wasn't bad either!).

This week Vickie took some time out of the studio to help shoot
some photos for our current project with NHS Education for Scotland
developing an interactive learning resource. The project, working
alongside the pharmacy division, involves revisiting content
previously produced for our smoking cessation resource with NHS Health
Scotland/ASH.
The new resource is being designed for NES to incorporate
further content, bespoke photography and interactive learning
elements. Here is Vickie, our resident model, purchasing something
at her local pharmacy. Perhaps we should start a blog series;
where's Vickie?

It seems that every day one of us is moving to team 'apple' and
getting to grips with a new Macbook, Iphone or Ipod. First there's
Jon commandeering the most popular toy in the toy box - our new 24"
screen and now Vickie and Ross with their new Macbooks! We should
invest in shares, we can't see past Apple Inc at the moment.
