Best Integration Award - Umbraco Awards 2011

Well… we sent Jon off to CodeGarden, had a chuckle over the fact that he got to spend 3 days in Copenhagen living the life when actually he was busier than ever - attending conferences, meeting the team and… picking up awards!

Yes, we're thrilled to say that we won 'Best Integration' at the Umbraco Awards 2011.

The Best Integration Award is for our work on integrating Umbraco (the open source .net content management system) with a social networking platform for thisiscentralstation.com, an online community for designers, artists and film makers.

Here's what Umbraco had to say:

"This is Central Station was selected as best integration because it's integrating a social network with Umbraco, it's a nice integration, and its design and UX is actually different from all the Facebook clones out there. So great use of a third party system + the flexibility of Umbraco in regards to design."

Jon was heavily involved in the development work on this project so it was great for him to be there to actually pick up the award himself (see photo above, courtesy of Douglas Robar). And, what an award to pick up! It's fair to say, it's one of the best we've ever seen.

The award itself is a kidrobot Mega Munny that was customized by the Umbraco team. So, it's a one off completely unique award. He's dressed as a wrestler so we think this means that integration is like wrestling; which wouldn't be wrong.

It's a giant one too; you'd need a wardrobe sized trophy cabinet if you wanted to lock it away. But for now it's on Jon's desk, after the plane journey home, he's rather attached to it. Quite right.

We're all delighted of course. We've been working with Umbraco for a number of years and it's great to be recognised by the core Umbraco team at an event that pulled in top developers from around the world. So, a big thank you goes out to Umbraco.
